ROBERT WILSON often invites first-time visitors to step out onto the balcony of his 16th-floor jvlanhattan co-op apartment. Day or night, it's showtime. "That's one of the best views of New York you'll ever see," says Wilson, which may explain why hecounts Steven Spielberg and Dustin Hoffman among his multimillionaire neighbors. Down below—neatly spread out like an 843-acre picnic blanket—lies Central Park, a back yard to die for. Wilson, an 80-year-old retired hedge fund manager-turned-conservation philanthropist, slow-jogs in the park. He also goes birding there on occasion with an ornithologist friend. In fact, Central Park pretty much fulfills all his wilderness-experience needs.
