High-Performance Phase Change Composite of Acetamide/Silica-Network for Thermal Storage

摘要

A novel phase change composite of acetamide encapsulated in porous silicate network for thermal storage and regulation was fabricated by a facile sol-gel method. The heat storage capacity of the composite was investigated. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) indicates that the phase change composite has a porous silica network which is beneficial for a uniform dispersion of acetamide. Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) also reveals the evolution of the composite components as the process is optimized. The thermal storage was characterized by Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC). The melting temperature of the composite is 28.8℃ and the value of the latent heat of phase change is 176.4 J/g. The new composite shows good chemical stability and has potential applications for residential and commercial green building establishments, packaging of electronics, and temperature regulation for thermo-electric energy conversion devices.
