Its main purpose is to balance the supply and demand of electricity, one of the most volatile of commodities and one that is essential to our digital economy. In this market of constant technological innovations and increasing reliance on automation, customers have little to no tolerance for outages, fluctuations in voltages and frequency levels, and other power-quality disturbances.
