Nuclear Energy Opening Up, Learning From Experience

Dirt is moving at the construction site for two new nuclear units near Waynesboro, Georgia. Preliminary construction activities are also under way at a new nuclear plant site near Jen-kinsville, South Carolina. Similar work may soon begin at locations in Maryland and Texas. It has been three decades since the last major nuclear construction boom in the United States, and while it is too early to call the current activity a "boom," the signs are favorable for a substantial number of new nuclear plants to be built over the next 10-20 years.
