Having tested many Next G mobile phones and PDAs over the past few years, we've often been asked whether the Apple iPhone is suitable for farmers. Up until now, the answer has been easy; no. The 2G iPhone tested in conjunction with Choice magazine during 2008 came dead last in terms of reception strength. There were also other PDA phones available that had far superior reception, even carrying Telstra's 'blue tick". Now that the latest release 3GS model has been out in the field for a while, and having personally used the model for more than six months, the answer may have changed.
