A well constructed barrier will last many years, but it's important to plan things carefully before digging the first post hole. The building blocks to any well-built fence are the vertical hardware, the posts and droppers, from which it is constructed. Traditionally, posts and droppers are split or sawn hardwood, typically from local species, which are then drilled once driven in and strung. Droppers are usually pre-drilled. While hardwood remains one of the most popular materials, availability is becoming increasingly difficult and consequently more expensive. To fill the fencing requirement gap, alternative post and dropper materials are being used to substitute.
