Making good things better: The new 190-MW-Gas turbine V94.2A of Siemens/KWU closes a gap in supply

Combined gas- and vapour turbine- (GAV) power stations have won a big market share since the 1 980s. A prerequisite for this was the development of high-capacity, robust and long-life gas turbines (GT). Siemens/KWU has invested more than 8 million hours of GT operating experience in the development of the new 190-MW-gas turbine V94.2A. Great importance was attached to an optimum combination of the factors high efficiency, reliability, long life-time, favourable operation flexibility, minor servicerequirement and low NO{sub}x-emission. It was deliberately renounced to take advantage of all efficiency- and capacity potentials in favour of operational reliability and availability.
