摘要

The electric double layer capacitor at the interface between an electronic conductor and an ionic conductor has an ability of high density charge accumulation reaching 8 x 10~(14) cm~(-2), which is almost two orders of magnitude larger than conventional solid capacitors. By using an electric double layer as a gate dielectric of a transistor, we demonstrated an electric field induced superconductivity occurring at a critical temperature of 15 K, on atomically flat surface of a layered material, ZrNCl. This result indicates an emergence of novel materials science under extremely high electric field.
