ORGANIC MATTER OF BURIED SOILS IN TROUGH VALLEYS OF THE KHIBINY MOUNTAIN MASSIF

It is known that the most responsive to any changes in climate among all planetary landscapes are landscapes of periglacial edges of the biosphere--polar and high-mountainous areas [1]. One of the oldest centers of repeated warming-up and cooling periods in the climate of the planet during 1.5 billion years is the Khibiny mountain massif located beyond the North polar circle. Although the Khibiny mountain massif is unique in terms of its paleolandscapes and paleoclimate, the series of Holocene moraines in the Khibiny are still little-studied, no dating has been done and no paleopedology studies performed. However, there are many publications devoted to the soils of the Khibiny mountains: Mazyro [2], Ivanova and Koposov [3], Ponomareva [4], Belov andBaranovskaya [5], Chepurko [6], Manakova and Ushakova [7], and others. But it is the study of the soil chronosequences that helps interpret the time sequence of the formation and changes of soil properties in a variable environment. It was the intent of this study to analyze the most inertial properties of the organic matter of soils containing buried horizons and developed on lateral and frontal moraines of different ages.
