We all should be very concerned about the near-term implications concerning U.S. automakers' continued outsourcing to China. Sure, they've been beating down costs in the supply chain for years, but this is different. Rather than simply squeezing margins throughout the chain, this is more likely to result in a permanent overseas outsourcing of parts and components, meaning that there will also be a permanent loss of those affected U.S. jobs. This works, as far as the world is concerned, but the U.S. will take the hit and incur the loss that is China's gain.
