摘要

In this design note, the construction of a 43 kV, 20 kHz solid-state pulse generator driven by a low-current-density-pumped semiconductor opening switch (SOS) is described. The function and selected values of the detailed circuit components in the resonant charging unit, magnetic pulse compression unit and SOS unit are discussed in detail. The reversed pumping current with amplitude of 350 A and duration of 50 ns in the SOS can be switched off within 8 ns. The generator operating at 20 kHz is capable of providing a pulse with a voltage of 43 kV and pulse width of 20 ns across a resistive load of 175 Ω.
