Referee: Municipalities Are Real Parties In Interest; Discovery Rules Apply

The discovery referee in the Santa Clara public nuisance lead paint action on Nov. 7 ordered that the defendants, former makers of lead paint, may compel production of documents related to the lawsuit directly from cities and counties on the basis that the local entities are real parties in interest and not merely third parties to the cause of action (Santa Clara County, et al. v.
