Originally focusing on manufacturing and V-process casting, private equity firm Ligon Industries has branched out to permanent mold casting with two recent acquisitions. For almost 20 years, Bob Haebig and his partners Mike Allik and Doug Haag watched their low-pressure permanent mold aluminum metalcasting business, Premier Aluminum, grow and survive. It began with the purchase of a bankrupt casting facility in Allenton, Wis., in 1988 and continued with the purchase of a second facility in Racine, Wis., in 1990.
