Without affecting mechanical properties like tensile strength and elongation,a new flame-retardant masterbatch can be used at temperatures to 550 deg F (287 deg C) in applications like wire and cable insulation or construction-related films.AmpShield 1199 can be used in high- or low-density polyethylene,reportedly providing 36 deg F (20 deg C) better thermal stability than traditional brominated flame retardants.
