Analysis of decisive factors for the variation of input costs and the price of soybean in the state of Rio Grande do Sul after the Real Plan.

The purpose of this paper is to identify the main variables that affect the cost of inputs and the prices of the soybean in the market of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, during the period after the Real Plan, from July 1994 and July 2006. After the identification of the variables, an assessment will be done about the production cost structure for the southern soybean producers, identifying the inputs that contributed most on the costs and suffered the higher influence of the exchange rate. Then, a calculation of how much each variable explains the fluctuation of the prices during these periods will be done, through regressions and comparisons found by these results. From the results, it will be possible to measure the importance of the professionalism of the soybean producers, through a safe administration, the producer may keep and enlarge the competitive production advantages, reducing the risks of the soybean market fluctuations.
