Prebiotic effect of Agave fourcroydes fructans on productive performance of Nilo GIFT tilapia fingerlings (Oreochromis niloticus)

TheobjectiveofthisstudywastoinvestigatetheeffectsofAgavefourcroydesfructansontheproductiveperformanceindicatorsofNiloGIFTtilapiafingerlings(Oreochromisniloticus).Atotalof360fingerlings,one-day-old,weredistributedinacompletelyrandomizeddesignwiththreetreatments:standarddietandtwodietswithAgavefourcroydesfructansadditionof0.25and0.50.Theexperimentalperiodlasted40days.Thebodyweight,weightgain,specificgrowthrate,feedconversionratio,biomassgainandsurvivalrateweredetermined.Weightgain,survivalnbsp;andtotalbiomassyieldoftilapiafingerlingswereincreasedbyaddingtothediet0.25offructansThefeedconversionratiowasnotaffectedbyanytreatment.ItisconcludedthattheinclusionoffructansfromAgavefourcroydesinthedietoftilapiafingerlingsinducedaprebioticresponseonthenbsp;productiveindicatorsofthefish.Itisnecessarytostudythemechanismsofactionofprebioticsinthephysiological,healthandproductiveresponseinaquaculture
