摘要

Afghanistan. Goodness me what a place. At the outset I expected that the project would not be an easy one and I was not to be disappointed. This is no place for old men and I am not particularly young. My contract began at the end of September 2006. The aim at that time was to be in Afghanistan for no more than three months. At the time I believed this to be true and I never expected to be still here in May 2014. The reason why matters dragged on for so long still remain unclear, however, at the outset my brother was the contract manager and was experiencing difficulty in recruiting people with the skill set that he required. In addition to this there was generally certain reluctance for the right sort of people to depart for such a location - I cannot possibly think why!!!
