Industrial networks are at risk of cyberat-tacks, and this risk is increasing for industries around the globe. Almost every conceivable industry is exposed to this existential cybersecurity risk due to technical, political, and economic factors. The ability of an organization to effectively parry such risks begins with its leadership. This threat means that leadership must have an adequate level of situational awareness to provide the political and financial wherewithal to take the steps necessary to establish and implement an effective cybersecurity program. The most effective cybersecurity programs begin with active oversight from the "C" level of management and the company's board.
