A growing number of mining and metals companies have turned their attention to addressing the social and environmental concerns of society in recent decades. Today, this is reflected in the push for corporate social responsibility and concern about a social licence to operajte. Sometimes the foundation of this activity is set in law and regulation. Policies and actions of leading companies go well beyond such a foundation and we are seeing some success.
