Operator MMC Minerals has moved to the more exposed Wager's Flat area to continue excavations following enforcement and stop notices from the Peak District National Park Authority (PDNPA) on its quarrying operations at Backdale. MMC MD Michael Merri-man said it was "regrettable" that the company had been forced to open up a new mineral working but said that the PDNPA had left it with little choice.
