Global coffee prices were highly volatile in the period under review with New York arabica futures reaching levels well above the 290.00 cents/lb level before plummeting to a one month low on March 15 on a commodity-wide sell-off induced by the disasters in Japan. The ICO composite indicator price settled at 226.13 cents/lb compared to 220.39 cents per pound on March 2. The average of Colombian Milds increased by 1.70 cents to 299.52 cents/lb with its premium over Other Milds little changed, while the premium over Brazilian Naturals narrowed by about 5 cents. Other Milds Arabicas lost 0.27 cents to 290.60 cents/lb, while Brazilian Naturals edged up 6.20 cents to 262.56 cents/lb. Robustas increased to 123.41 cents/lb, up 10.83 cents m the period under review.
