Arabica futures rose to a five-month peak though the rally ran out of steam at the end of the period under review. A strengthening Brazilian real, which deters sales of dollar-denominated coffee, fueled the rally with technical buying once key resistance levels were breached adding to the bullish tone. The benchmark May contract ended up 10.65 cents at 131.55 cents/lb, after having touched 135.00 cents/lb on Friday. Second-month July gained the same to 133.35 cents/lb.
