Coal-mining lease upheld by federal court

A BID BY environmental groups to block the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) from leasing federal tracts for coal mining in Wyoming's Powder River Basin was blocked by the U.S. Court of Appeals. The court ruled that federal regulators properly considered whether more mining by Antelope Coal, a unit of Cloud Peak Energy Inc., would affect local pollution levels in the basin or increase the chances of global warming.
