LDV faces an uncertain future as we go to press, after the Government rejected the company's request for a short-term loan reported to be between ￡20 and ￡30 million. Apparently, some ￡24 million of Government loans made to the company four years ago have never been repaid. The company was bought by the Russian vehicle manufacturer GAZ in 2006 from a consortium led by Sun Capital, which had bought the company after it went into receivership in December 2005.
