摘要

This compilation of more than 60 papers from the Ninth International Conference on Tailings and Mine Waste covers many of the environmental aspects of tailings and mine waste, such as site characterization, and presents results of research on mobility of trace elements and anthropogenic contaminants under natural conditions. It also contains many geotechnical and engineering papers focused on new technology to deal with environmental and operational concerns. This book is a good example of the benefits of combining the research and development from both the environmental and mining community to address not only environmental aspects of mine waste and tailings, but how these aspects can and are being dealt with, thus creating an environmentally sound, and possibly more efficient cost effective mining process.
