摘要

NICKEL LATERITE DEPOSITS are formed by the chemical weathering of ultramafic rocks, and the different minerals and phases responsible for nickel and cobalt deportment in the ore present a complicated challenge for hydrometallurgical processing routes. However, by employing a range of techniques - including optical microscopy, image analysis, quantitative x-ray diffraction, microprobe and quantitative evaluation of minerals using scanning electron microscopy (QEMSCAN~R) -SGS is able to deliver highly detailed information about the mineralogy of different nickel laterite ore types.
