New protection system solves mine site corrosion problems

Amajor breakthrough in controlling corrosion in mining and industrial equipment is now available to Australia's resource sector via the Enviropeel system - a unique, spray-applied corrosion-inhibiting thermoplastic coating that creates an impermeable barrier to all kinds of corrosion. One of a range of products from the Fremantle-based Alocit Group, the Enviropeel system produces a non-toxic, easy to peel away, reusable and recyclable barrier coating. With built-in corrosion inhibitors that are continuously released on to the substrate throughout the life of the application, it provides extremely effective and environmentally friendly anti-corrosion protection. Minimum surface preparation is required and, even when applied to partly-corroded surfaces, Enviropeel will prevent any further corrosion. The effectiveness of the new system was recently well demonstrated at a major coal mine in Queensland's Bowen Basin.
