摘要

AS THE SELECTED consortium for the proposed 2 billion dollars Oakajee Port development near Geraldton, Western Australia, the Murchison Metals Ltd and Mitsubishi Corporation Ltd-backed Oakajee Port & Rail Pty Ltd (OPR) is only too aware that the touted 2012 deadline is looming. Competing with Yilgarn Infrastructure Ltd for the rights to build the port, OPR's bid was judged to be more developed and robust when the government handed down its decision on July 31. At the time of the announcement, WA Planning and Infrastructure Minister Alannah MacTiernan stressed that financing of both proposals was conditional on confirming project feasibility, adding there was still some way to go before a green light would be switched on for the project.
