Acquisitions expand operations

MARKET FAVOURITE STRAITS Resources Ltd has continued to grow its coal presence in Indonesia with the recent acquisition of the Jembayan coal mine, complementing an expanding production base at its wholly-owned Sebuku coal operation. The Perth-based company, through its subsidiary Straits Asia Resources Ltd, which listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange in late 2006, has also bought the Northern lease areas on Sebuku Island and purchased a 35 percent interest in the Madagascar thermal coal project through Red Island Minerals (RIM).
