Ferro-chrome prices gained momentum over Market Outlook September, reversing the downward trend in European and US prices that had been in place since March/April. Stainless mills appear to be finally returning to the market after the summer holiday season, with increased demand helping to propel prices higher. The recent strengthening of the rand against the dollar is also influencing prices in US dollar terms, and will play a factor in fourth-quarter charge chrome contract negotiations.
