Mining manufacturers sold up to 3 billion US dollars worth of the largest loading and hauling equipment to the world's surface mines during 2005. According to Bristol Voss, president of the New York-based AllMining website (www.AllMining.com), mining supplier shipment figures outstripped 2004 in the first nine months of last year. Final figures for the December quarter were yet to be received. "It marks the second year in a row of all-out demand for the mining trucks and the large loading equipment - shovels, excavators and loaders - made by such suppliers as Bucyrus, Caterpillar, Hitachi, Komatsu, Liebherr, LeTourneau, P&H, and Terex/O&K," he said. During 2004, 1,404 units of mining equipment were sold with a market value of 2.194 billion US dollars.
