The main culprits for the unprecedented rise in LPG prices in early December were believed to be the strengthening "paper market," aided and abetted by the industrial disputes in France, the prolonged frigid weather conditions throughout Europe, and the rising price of oil, which had soared above $90/bbl (U.S.). This was crude's highest level in more than two years.
