This Business Ratio Report focuses on the leading 76 companies operating in the forging industry. At the time of publication five companies had not filed accounts in the 06/07 period and have consequently been omitted from the Report's totals and averages. A further four companies have filed accounts subsequent to the cut-off date and these are presented in the 07/08 Recently Filed Accounts column of the Performance League Tables and relevant Company Profiles, but are not used in any of the analysis. The Report analyses company and industry performance over the three years up to 7th April 2007. During this period, the average company featured in this Report witnessed a 32.3 percent increase in its sales, which rose from 32.3 million pounds in 2004/05, to 38.9 million pounds in the middle year of analysis, before increasing once again to stand at 42.7 million pounds in 2006/07. Pre-tax profits also improved, rising from 1.9 million pounds in 2004/05, to 2.0 million pounds 2006/07, an increase of 2.7 percent.
