摘要

A retrospective case-control study suggests that an earlier age at menopause is associated with a greater risk of cerebral aneurysm. The explanation, proposed by investigators from Chicago writing in the BMJ journal Journal of NeuroInterventional Surgery, may be the loss of estrogen earlier in a woman's life 'which may contribute' to the pathogenesis of cerebral aneurysm. They add that their data may identify a risk factor for cerebral aneurysm pathogenesis and provide a potential target for future therapies.
