Antrim Shale drilling decline leads overall decrease in activity;shift in emphasis to deeper targets seen in 2007

MICHIGAN OIL AND GAS DRILLING ACTIVITY WAS DOWN BY MORE THAN 14 PERCENT IN CALENDAR YEAR 2007,compared to calendar year 2006,but the drilling completion numbers alone tell only part of the story.The total of 483 holes reaching total depth during 2007 - compiled this week by Michigan Oil & Gas News - is the lowest annual total for the state since 400 holes were drilled in 2003.
