Seventy-year oilfield veteran Gyle Atterberry dies Feb. 5, 2011

Michigan oil and gas industry veteran driller and consultant Luin Gyle Atterberry, 83, died Feb. 5, 2011 at his home in Mt. Pleasant, Midi. Atterberry was born March 17,1927, and according to family members present at an informal gathering of friends and industry colleagues in celebration of his life Feb. 10, 2011 at Bucks Run, Gyle went to work in the oil fields at the age of 13 or 14. He continued to work his entire life until late last year, doing his last consulting job in December 2010, according to step-daughter Lisa Atterberry of Chicago.
