Working display at Ogemaw County Fairgrounds helps preserve history of area's, state's oil, gas industry

WEST BRANCH, Mich.—Sometimes, it's fun to think back and reminisce about the "good ole days" of Michigan's oil and natural gas industry. It's even better to be able to crank up an engine, hear the gears churn and clank, and actually see some of the tools of the trade and how they worked decades before. A live, working display at the Ogemaw County Fairgrounds near West Branch does exactly that, allowing the industry's history to come to life when volunteers fire up the various engines and pumpers —a dozen or more—at the fairgrounds' Antique Village display.
