NEW FERN RECORDS FOR SENEGAL: ADIANTUM CAPILLUS-VENERIS AND PTERIS TOGOENSIS (PTERIDACEAE)

Two species, Adiantum capillus-veneris and Pteris togoensis, (Pteridaceae) are reported for the pteridoflora of Senegal for the first time. Both are found on waterfalls in the Kedougou region in the south-east of Senegal. Adiantum capillus-veneris forms scattered colonies on the cliff of a very sunny waterfall, while Pteris togoensis grows on the slope of a shady cliff where the soil is very rich in humus. Both species occur in hard-to-reach areas not frequented by the local population.
