摘要

Some aspects regarding the main steel elements as iron and carbon, are presented. At the same time, different structural constituents, as austenite, bainite, cementite, ferrite, ledeburite, martensite, pearlite, troostite and steadite are presented in the paper. Metallic inclusion are, also, treated accordingly. In the second part, effect of heat treatment on machinability is largely analysed.
