Slight Rise in May

New orders in America for machine tools and other manufacturing technology moved upward a little in May, to 109.9-million dollars. But the monthly figure was still 72 percent behind May of a year ago. With a year-to-date total of 618.3-million dollars, 2009 is running, 70 1/2 percent behind 2008. The U.S. Manufacturing Technology Consumption figures are compiled from reports of participating members of the Amer. Machine Tool Distributors' Assn. and AMT - The Assn. for Manufacturing Technology.
