Installation of a new downcoiler at Hoesch Hohenlimbury

Hoesch Hohenlimburg, a company of Thyssen Krupp Steel, Germany, operates a narrow strip hot rolling mill. The broad range of high-end quality strip comprises more than 240 different steel grades. In 2003, one of the two existing downcoilers was replaced by a new, VAI-supplied, hydraulic downcoiler (figure.1). Key components of the new downcoiler include: pinch roll unit with separate drives, downcoiler with drive train, hydraulic equipment, new lubrication system, new automation system. As the most important quality-related improvements, the coiler is now equipped with step control and stronger drives.
