STRIP PROCESSING Wuhan Iron and Steel Co. is currently building three new hot-dip galvanizing lines and one new continuous annealing line. The strip tension measuring equipment to be used in the furnace region of these processing lines will be supplied by Dr. Brandt GmbH through an order from Drever International. The delivery will contain three sets of special tensiometers suitable for operation in the heat annealing zones of the galvanizing lines and nine of these tensiometers to be installed in the continuous annealing line. Dr. Brandt has developed special load cell arrangements for tension measuring systems with measuring rolls that are subject to large elongations or contractions during heating or cooling of the furnace. As the temperatures between the operation and stop status may differ by 800 deg C, the length changes of the roll axle might be very pronounced.
