SMS reports slightly positive result

In 2002 SMS AG, Dusseldorf, Germany, achieved an order intake of 2001 million euros and sales of 2190 million euros (previous year: 2239 million euros) with approx. 9900 employees. This puts the company back in the black with +6 million euros before taxes (previous year: loss of -9 million euros). The orders can be broken down as follows: 998 million euros (-15 percent) for the metallurgical plant and rolling mill technology business area, 542 million euros (+12 percent) for tube, long products and forging technology and 461 million euros (+2 percent) for plastics technology. As much as 41 percent of the sales were achieved in Europe. North and South America contributed 24 percent, while sales in the Asian region accounted for 30 percent.
