Rank Controls GmbH, Germany, has over 30 years of experience in retrofitting of all kinds of machine tools: Since the sixties Rank hydraulic tracer controls are well known for their excellent machining results and high reliability. Following the technology change to CNC and staying in the traditional product line, Rank CNC retrofitting systems for horizontal and vertical lathes, milling machines and boring mills have been produced and installed since 1988. The Hydro-CNC~R technology is applicable for retrofitting machines with Acme feed screws or even rack and pinion drives. An expensive installation of ball screws is not needed, which is necessary with a full electric retrofitting solution. The advantages of an Acme screw equipped machine remain, namely, high stability and low torsion, highest possible damping capability, high load support and self locking of the screw. Equipped with the optional clutch package, the machine can still be operated manually as before.
