摘要

In 1998 Wickeder Westfalenstahl GmbH commissioned a 6-high universal reversing cold mill. The installation of the latest automation technology assures the required high quality of its products. The automation system includes thickness, profile and flatness control, feed-forward tension control, strip edge detection, laser speed system, mass flow control, and coil eccentricity compensation. A mathematical model calculates the optimal pass-schedule and the mill presetting. The installed system for controlling the condition of the rolls guarantees the demanded high quality of the strip surface. A new strip centering equipment reduces the risk of the strip veering sideways.
