There is increasing interest in methods for the processing of industrial residues for reclamation of re-usable contents, predominally by thermal treatment methods. There is also increasing interest in the generation of hot process gases on the basis of various sources of solid carbon carriers. Rotational firing is one possibility for the combustion of granular materials containing carbon. The type of feeding of the fuel ensures that the granules move in a rotating circular trajectory, which guarantees a high degree of burn-up. In the rotational firing employed by Loesche GmbH the solid material is pneumatically and tangentially fed into the cylindrical combustion chamber via a number nozzles. Combustion air is also tangentially fed in through a number of nozzles distributed over the length of the combustion chamber.
