VAI and Techint form joint company

Voest-Alpine Industrieanlagenbau (VAI), Linz, Austria, and Techint Compagnia Tecnica Internazionale SpA (Techint), Milan, Italy, have agreed to combine their activities in the areas of continuous billet casting plants and long-product rolling mills in a joint company named VAI Pomini.The main scope of the joint company will be the design, construction and sales activities in the area of continuous billet casting plants and long-product rolling mills. The joint company will be headquartered in Castellanza, Italy, with operations in Linz, Austria, Sheffield, U.K., and Pittsburg, USA, and will begin its operations as soon as required authorisations from merger control authorities have been granted. The turnover forecast for the year 2001 will amount to roughly 100 million EUR. The company will employ roughly 220 staff members.
