Horizon International is the Bristol based manufacturers of the 'Smog-Eater' range of dust and fume removal equipment. The 1974 Health and Safety at Work Act was strengthened considerably by the introduction of the 1989 COSHH regulations. An important aspect of the current COSHH regulations is the provision of a clean, safe factory atmosphere free from pollution. The worst form of pollution, emanating from various work processes, is the extremely fine particles which float airborne around the factory space for long periods before settling. These minute particles are easily inhaled by the work force and can lodge within a person's lungs and over a period of time can cause various forms of illness. Larger particles quickly settle forming layers of dust everywhere and can be readily cleaned up with conventional factory floor type cleaning machinery.
