PCC SOFTWARE FOR METAL FORMING SIMULATION

Computer simulation of forging process technology is a vital need for metalworking firms spurred by strong competitive pressure. Though several commercial finite element codes for metal forming simulation are available in the market they are still the privilege of large research centres and universities who have specially trained staff to support and operate them. On the contrary, F0RM-2D system was designed and developed for direct use by forging engineers and die designers at forging shops. This outstanding feature is based on high automation of the program, its transparent, intuitive understandable interface and possibility to run its fast 3 2-bit code on inexpensive PC's under DOS, Windows or Windows 95. FORM-2D also works in local networks which makes it attractive for educational purposes. Reliable, true-to-life simulation provided by the system ensures development of optimal technology for manufacturing of high performance, near net shape parts, treating of the materials with narrow processing windows and providing of required mechanical properties distribution within the product.
