The Maryland LIVE! Casino in Hanover, Md., is located in the Arundel Mills Commercial District. In 2010, residents voted to enhance the area with a casino. The owner and developers on the project were PPE Casino Resorts Maryland LLC, Baltimore, affiliate of The Cordish Cos. of Baltimore. Klai Juba Architects, Las Vegas, designed the 1.9 million-square-foot structure, which houses a 330,000-square-foot casino and a six-level, state-of-the-art speed-ramp parking structure with the capacity to hold 4,800 cars. Ground broke in January 2011 and 17 months later, the casino opened.
